Details

A 2-day gorilla trekking trip to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a thrilling experience. This park, located in southwestern Uganda, is home to more than half of the world's mountain gorilla population. Given that it's a short trip, it’ll require a well-planned itinerary to maximize your experience.

We will pick you up at Kigali Airport or downtown Kigali. Before driving to Uganda, there is a visit to Kigali Genocide Memorial and Museum. The Kigali Genocide Memorial is a significant and poignant place to visit in Kigali, Rwanda. It commemorates the lives lost during the 1994 Rwandan Genocide and serves as a place for education, reflection, and reconciliation. The scenic drive to Uganda will go through Rwanda’s northwestern town of Ruhengeri, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park, another popular spot for mountain gorilla tracking. We will then circle around the mountains to cross over into Uganda via the Cyanika border posts and stay in Kisoro near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Spend the afternoon as you wish and choose from our array of optional activities such as hiking through the luscious hills or visiting the local Batwa community.
Depart the lodge and with your packed lunch transfer to the tracking trail head for a pre-gorilla trekking briefing. You will be grouped with other 7 travelers and allocated a gorilla family. At 8:00 AM, hike into the jungle to meet the gorillas. This hike may be short or long depending on the location of the gorillas. On meeting the gorillas, spend an hour in their presence, enjoy their human-like characters, take photos, capture videos, and enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Hike back to the lodge, refresh, and transfer back to Kigali for your return flight.
